We wish you all a happy new year and hope that you have a fantastic twelve months ahead.
From MISA’s perspective, there are a lot of reasons for optimism for 2021. Survey results show that students are satisfied with the online learning format and are progressing academically along the Cambridge pathway. Teachers are on track with their curricula, and are now very adept at teaching online with a wide variety of tools. Nonetheless, we hope to be able to switch back to face-to-face teaching in the new academic year and believe that this will be possible in the not-too-distant future as more and more vaccines become available, both in the private sector and commercially.
Our plans to expand the school are also moving ahead. Already, the full Cambridge pathway, from KG to A Levels, is available at MISA. Once the new campus is ready, all secondary students will move there, meaning they can benefit from excellent new facilities, while our primary students can enjoy more space and increased access to facilities here on 58th street.
As mentioned in an earlier message, formal evaluation is not practicable online, for which reason our teachers have used frequent formative assessments to arrive at a fair overall picture of each student’s performance. You will be able to discuss your child’s progress with teachers in our Parent Teacher Conference which begins on February 1st. All families will be called and notified of the schedule.
As always, we welcome your feedback, and would be grateful if you could fill out the parent survey, in the interests of improving the service we provide to our learners.
As mentioned, we have already collected survey results from students and teachers, and we are happy to say that the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Students are now very familiar with the online format, are enjoying the activities that teachers give them, and most importantly, are progressing academically.
Please note that January 13 is a public holiday, due to Kayin New Year, so there won’t be classes on that day.
